Raise Your Social Media Visibility

What is holding back most business growth is not the quality of the content they produce to advertise their business, it is the method with which they are focusing their efforts.  From email campaigns to paid ads, the message is falling on largely blind eyes and deaf ears because it’s simply not going to people who are interested in the sender.

The secret to raising visibility is to build relational trust first.

How do you do that with strangers?  One simple and effective way is to find them where they already are in mass.  Social media is one of the few places left where you can find people congregating in the billions.  Television used to be king, but saturation in channel options and “cable” providers with satellite and streaming services have diluted the water greatly.

Want to find people in large quantities today, look to social media.

We’re on Social Media but Not Getting Traction

The magic of social media comes with a well thought out and executed strategy.  There is no “magic” button and what works is constantly changing by the day as platforms each have their own algorithm formulas.  Fear not however as while what methods required to reach the masses changes, the basic idea of raising your visibility to and earning trust is the key cornerstone idea to build on.

Want traction on social media?  You need to build trust by first raising your visibility and then getting people to like your brand.  For many, that means slowing down the sales pitch a bit and focusing more on creating an apparatus that will float in the social media ocean first.

Raising Visibility with a Two-Pronged Strategy

How do you increase visibility?  Start by outsourcing and bringing in some help that already have a large established network on that platform.  For example, Bowman Digital Media is run by Ira Bowman who has over 300,000 social media subscribers/followers/connections in his network alone, not counting the tens of thousands more in the business pages for Bowman Digital Media, ProjectHelpYouGrow and Bowman Coaching.  With a large audience already at our disposal, we can help “splash” our clients in front of a lot of people in a short amount of time and that helps build momentum faster.

Secondly, knowing how to formulate posts based on intimate knowledge of the platforms, the algorithm, experience and marketing reports helps to create content that the different social media platforms like LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will promote more readily to their audiences instead of suppressing them.  In other words, if you create platform friendly posts, they are more likely to be seen by a larger audience.

Don’t Lead With a Sales Pitch

Too many people are making a mistake by leading with the sales pitch on social media.  Imagine you just walked up to someone in person for the first time ever, dropped to your knee and asked for their hand in marriage.  How successful do you think that would be?  Hello, my name is Ira, will you marry me?  Really it is silly how many people are doing this on social media and in emails.  They fail because of bad form.

If people don’t know, like and trust you or your business, the odds are you will not earn their business.  Want their business?  Get them to know who you are, like you and earn their trust first.  Don’t rush the sales pitch.  Build that sales funnel correctly and watch how much more effective it can be for both your marketing and sales teams.  The bottom-line is that if you want to make more sales, you need a well thought out and executed marketing strategy.

Immediate Impact Is Possible

Don’t get me wrong, you can have an immediate impact and start attracting attention right away as long as you follow the plan above.  Having a brand champion with a large network is like your fire starter.  Putting content out that is formatted correctly makes a huge difference.

What kind of difference does it make?

A coaching client of Bowman Digital Media put out a post on his business page that was not formatted correctly, and he put up himself.  It was a spur of the moment idea and he was living in the moment.  After 24 hours the post had 5 views on LinkedIn.  After talking to the client, I deleted that post, reformatted it and reposted it, not changing the message, just the formatting.  In 24 hours that new post was seen over 32,000 times.

Impact is derived by both the message delivery and the composition.

Now you know what needs to be done to get the visibility you are looking for.  You need a splash partner and someone who knows how to write content that works on social media platforms.  You can hire someone internally or externally to do it for you depending on what works best for your company.
