Where your website ranks on Google can make or break your sales. With the rise of ChatGPT from OpenAI and now Bard from Google, content creation has been revolutionized. And while some may question the value of these AI tools, they are not pure evil, in fact you can learn a lot about them, by simply having a “conversation with the systems themselves. I did just that with Bard today as I asked it what it recommends to improve SERP (Search Engine Rank Page) for a website on Google. What makes this ironic of course is Bard is a Google product.

Now as I share the information that Bard produced, I want to clarify that I’m not fully endorsing this as the gospel truth, however as one who studies SEO and offers the service for our clients, I was very happy with the clear and concise answers generated from Bard on this question as I have been on other topics I happen to know a lot about. With that, I will provide a bit of feedback at the end of this post, to share some additional information for those who want to truly build their SERP via SEO activities. What Bard has to say about Improving SERP

Bard Recommendations to Improve SERP on Google

The best way to improve SERP on Google is to focus on on-page and off-page SEO. On-page SEO refers to the optimization of your website’s content and code to make it more search engine friendly. Off-page SEO refers to the process of building backlinks to your website from other high-quality websites.

Here are some specific tips for improving your SERP on Google:

  • Do keyword research. The first step to improving your SERP is to do keyword research. This will help you identify the keywords that people are searching for that are relevant to your website. You can use a keyword research tool like Google’s Keyword Planner to help you find the right keywords.
  • Optimize your website’s content. Once you know the keywords you want to target, you need to optimize your website’s content for those keywords. This means using keywords throughout your content, including in your title tags, meta descriptions, and throughout your body text. You should also use relevant images and videos that are optimized for your keywords.
  • Optimize your website’s code. In addition to optimizing your content, you also need to optimize your website’s code. This means making sure your website is fast and easy to navigate. You should also make sure your website is mobile-friendly.
  • Build backlinks to your website. Backlinks are links from other websites to your website. Backlinks are important because they help Google determine the authority of your website. The more backlinks you have from high-quality websites, the higher your website will rank in search results.

Improving your SERP on Google takes time and effort, but it is worth it. By following the tips above, you can improve your website’s ranking and attract more visitors.

Additional Tips to Improve SERP via SEO

Here are some additional tips that can help you improve your SERP on Google:

  • Create high-quality content. The most important factor in improving your SERP is to create high-quality content that is relevant to your target audience. This content should be informative, engaging, and well-written.
  • Update your content regularly. Google loves fresh content, so make sure to update your website’s content regularly. This will help you keep your website’s ranking high and attract new visitors.
  • Use social media. Social media is a great way to promote your website and attract new visitors. Make sure to share your content on social media and engage with your audience.
  • Be patient. It takes time to improve your SERP on Google. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results immediately. Just keep creating great content, promoting your website, and building backlinks, and you’ll eventually start to see results.

What Bard Missed for SEO Essentials

Bard didn’t mention two of the most important new components to improve SEO in the list above. So I pressed the issue and asked Bard about Interactive Media and Pillar Content and here’s what Bard had to say, which is accurate.

Interactive media and pillar content can both be used to improve SERP. Interactive media is any type of content that allows users to interact with it in some way. This can include things like infographics, quizzes, and interactive maps. Pillar content is a type of content that provides a comprehensive overview of a topic. This type of content is often used to organize and structure related content into a single, easy-to-understand resource.

Both interactive media and pillar content can help to improve SERP by providing users with a more engaging and informative experience. Interactive media can help to capture users’ attention and keep them engaged, while pillar content can help users to learn more about a topic in a more comprehensive way. Both of these factors can lead to users spending more time on your website, which can improve your SERP ranking.

In addition to improving SERP, interactive media and pillar content can also help to improve user experience and engagement. When users are engaged with your content, they are more likely to return to your website and share your content with others. This can lead to increased traffic and conversions.

Here are some specific examples of how interactive media and pillar content can be used to improve SERP:

  • Infographics: Infographics are a great way to present complex information in a visually appealing and easy-to-understand way. They can be used to explain a process, compare and contrast different options, or simply provide a summary of a topic. Infographics can be embedded in blog posts, shared on social media, or used as standalone content.
  • Quizzes: Quizzes are a fun and engaging way to learn about a topic. They can be used to test users’ knowledge, provide a personalized learning experience, or simply generate leads. Quizzes can be embedded in blog posts, used as standalone content, or shared on social media.
  • Interactive maps: Interactive maps are a great way to visualize data and tell stories. They can be used to track the spread of a disease, show the location of a particular event, or simply provide a more engaging way to explore a topic. Interactive maps can be embedded in blog posts, used as standalone content, or shared on social media.
  • Pillar content: Pillar content is a great way to organize and structure related content into a single, easy-to-understand resource. This type of content is often used to create a “table of contents” for your website or blog. Pillar content can be used to create a comprehensive guide to a topic, answer frequently asked questions, or simply provide a central location for related content.

If you are looking for ways to improve your SERP, interactive media and pillar content are two great options. By creating high-quality interactive media and pillar content, you can provide users with a more engaging and informative experience, which can lead to improved SERP ranking, user experience, and engagement.
