Big Graphics for Explosive Marketing Results

Are you looking for a way to make a big marketing splash?  You should consider utilizing large format graphics!  Why large graphics?  Because loud graphics on giant surfaces are captivating!  Marketing campaigns that use large printed materials to cover walls, windows, vehicles and ground surfaces are eye catching.  Ground-to-wall graphics are especially impactful when covering a variety of exterior surfaces in high density areas.

If you’re trying to reach a large group of local prospects, than think big.  Exterior graphics in a downtown setting or next to a major road will get the job done.  Wonder why big graphics in major settings work?  Try ignoring a 40 foot tall image printed on the side of a building as you walk down the street.

Don’t Forget the Ground

The graphic is even harder to ignore when the campaign includes sidewalk or asphalt graphics that you travel over.  Most people are looking down these days when they walk.  The floor graphics catch the attention of those staring down at their phones.  Once the eyes are on the graphic, human nature’s inquisitive mind does the rest and people look up.  “I wonder how they did that?” is the natural question to follow.

I have done event graphics on blacktop for 5K and Marathons, festivals and more.  The graphics can be used for both form and function.  Think beyond start and finish lines.  I’m talking about giant logos, self guided tours on pedestrian walk ways and even mobile interactive graphics.  One such project I worked on was complete with QR codes. The participants on a college campus would scan the QR code on their mobile device.  The scan directed them to a landing page with a video that both entertained and informed them further.  The series of videos took the place of tour guides and saved the university money in the form of reduced labor costs.

Graphics that Move Make Cents Too

Do you have a company vehicle?  Don’t forget to wrap your car, van, truck and any trailers you might use.  Why?  If you are calling in an area with one prospect or client, you’re likely to be seen by others.  The billboard space is invaluable.  Car wraps, specifically partial wraps were just the part of the sides and the full back of the vehicle is done can be very effective as part of an overall marketing campaign.

The rear of the vehicle is the most important to cover.  Many used to think the sides were the way to go, however with parking lots, most people will see the rear of the car, more than the sides.  The surface area to ignore mostly is the top and the hood, unless you’re solely in a downtown and mostly park on the street.  People looking out their windows will see the top of your vehicle in that case.  If you work in rural or residential areas, you can save money by not doing a full wrap.  Since you pay by the square foot, the less you cover, the lower the cost.

The more your vehicle is on the road or parked along highly traveled road ways, the more you should consider a vehicle wrap.  A good installation can get your brand name out there and help educate the public about what you have to offer.  Remember to be nice when you’re driving.  Having road rage or cutting people off in a wrapped car is a bad way to build a good reputation.

Walls Windows Doors and More

Inside or outside, you can bring your message to life on walls, windows and doors.  I am a big fan of printing a campaign across multiple surfaces as the 3D affect helps to catch attention.  The wow factor is something you want to deliver, because people will talk about and remember the campaign better.  Ultimately with any branding and marketing you do, the more it stands out, the more effective it will be.

Think about wrapping your conference room table in combination with an accent wall and the door.  Use a graphic that lends itself to a message you want to promote.  The message you display can be for internal or external customers too.  From floor to ceiling, there really isn’t any surface that cannot be imaged.  Use your imagination and lean on the expertise of your print consultant to come up with an awesome graphic display to catch the attention of all who see it.

Who Do I Call For Help?

There are three basic components to a large format print campaign: Designer, Printer and Installer.  Not always so obvious, you need a designer to create the graphics.  Once the graphics are ready for production, the print shop or a combination of print shops will produce the components needed.  Finally an installation team will transform the space to fulfill your vision.  In my experience, most customers lean on one Project Manager from a graphics print shop to run the job.

If you are looking for one person to run the job, you should look to the print shop as most designers and installers don’t like to handle the whole project, rather they stick to their specialty.  Print companies are more apt to help with the entire job. Frankly a print company worth its salt, has already completed many other jobs start to finish.  Don’t be alarmed if a print company sources out part of the work.  I actually think people who do what they do best and hire out others to do the rest are the wisest of us all.

Large graphic projects can help you increase your exposure, capture the attention of prospects and help you ultimately grow your business.  If you have yet to utilize large format graphics I hope you will consider it soon.  If you have any questions or want to discuss this further, reach out to me directly and I’d be happy to give you a consultation for free.  Let me put my 20 years of experience to work for you.
