The Untapped Visual Edge Companies Have Yet to Realize

Humans are visual by nature.  We react to what we see, whether we like it or not.   Most would agree with me here, so this is not necessarily a revelation.  What strikes me a bit odd is how few people and companies they represent take better advantage of that fact.

Many companies ignore the visceral response their clients and prospects have to imagery.

Let me paint a picture for you to help show you an example of how things are verses how they should be, if people in the know were up to speed on the power of the graphics they could be employing instead of the tired retreads they have been serving up on social media, on their websites and in their email signatures and even in traditional print methods like banners, business cards and signage.

First let me clear the air, I am not just talking about something “sexy” here as what I mean is attractive on a whole different and frankly more widely acceptable level.  You can do this for children through our most senior saints despite how liberal or conservative they might be.  In fact, it works across gender and ethnicity lines too.

Fresh Graphics Catch Attention Across All Demographics

Graphics can be used in ways to capture the attention of anyone.  That doesn’t mean that certain graphics and the way they are presented won’t work better on specific demographics, however there are methods to employ that can work better across the board or for specific portions of the population, depending on what the company is trying to accomplish.

So what magic trick am I referring to in this article?  I am specifically talking about motion or animation of graphics.  In the print world, we learned about back lighting, front lighting, holograms, and coatings long ago.  You can use these different techniques to generate a higher response rate.  More people will notice light shifts, movement, and non-static presentations.

The absolute same can be said for graphics viewed digitally on the computer, phone, or smart device.  Frankly, it’s easier to deliver motion graphics on the screen too, so there’s really no excuse to present your graphics and artwork in any traditional nonmoving ways.  Instead of loading a jpg, now you load a GIF or a MP4 and watch the results soar.

Adjusting Strategy To Stay Ahead of the Curve

I know most of you are not likely to understand just by reading, so I have submitted some samples here to help.  Look at the Mind Body logos.  The JPG does not move.  This is something you see all over the internet, in emails, on websites, in blogs and more.  The truth is, the same logo can be presented as the moving GIF file, which is like a slide projector, moving several frames one after the other.

As you can see from the samples here, the results are night and day.  You would be drawn like a moth to the flame, every time to the moving image.  Consider two old neon signs across from one another on a dark street.  One has flashing movement and the other is static.  Which will you be drawn to?  Without question the moving one will get more if not all your attention.  It is how we are wired as visual beings. Most businesses have not animated their logos yet.  They are missing out on the opportunity to catch more attention.  Now you know there is a better way and I hope you will take advantage of this new knowledge to do something about it.  Need help?  Bowman Digital Media is here willing and able to do the work for you if you want.
